Have you been coming up against a challenge over and over again recently and aren’t sure that you’ll ever be able to figure it out?
Are you feeling defeated, and like you aren’t good enough to keep going?
Are you afraid to tackle something new, fearing that you won’t be able to be successful?
If that sounds like you, it might be time to do a little reframing. When we take a moment to reframe negative self-talk and thoughts of defeat, we can get out of our own way.
We can clear away the barriers of limiting beliefs, allowing ourselves to move towards our goals with greater confidence and ease. Here are some positive reframes that just might be able to help you out today. Do any resonate with you?
If you are thinking: I can’t do this. → Try thinking: I will figure it out. I have all the resources I need to overcome this challenge.
If you are thinking: I’m not good at this.→ Try thinking: I’m still learning, and that’s okay. How can I keep improving?
If you are thinking: It’s too hard. → Try thinking: This might take some time and effort, but I can do hard things.
If you are thinking: What if I make a mistake? → Try thinking: Mistakes are human. They will help me learn.
If you are thinking: I’ve messed this kind of thing up before.→ Try thinking: I learn from my past experiences, and I’ll be more prepared this time around.
If you are thinking: Other people are better than me. I’m not cut out for this.→ Try thinking: My experience and knowledge is just as valid as anyone else’s.
If you are thinking: This is too much for me.→ Try thinking: What do I need to feel more supported?
If you are thinking: I’m afraid to fail.→ Try thinking: I am brave. I am willing to try, and then see what happens.
If you are thinking: I won’t be good enough.→ Try thinking: All I can do is my best.
I hope that whenever you hear any self-defeating self-talk show up today, you’ll practice trying on a new, more helpful and more self-compassionate thought.
Pick one from the list that resonates with you, or create one for yourself! And then make sure to hit reply and let me know if the power of reframing changes your day for the better.
